The biggest celebration in Matosinhos is here! From May 15th to June 7th, the city transforms for the Senhor de Matosinhos festivities. While this brings incredible energy, music, and traditions, it also means that traffic will be restricted and several roads will be closed to ensure everyone’s safety.
At Sea Porto Hotel, we want your arrival to be as smooth as the sea breeze. Whether you are driving or using public transport, here is your ultimate guide to reaching us without the stress.
🚗 Reaching Us by Car: Recommended Routes
If you are driving, we recommend using the A28 highway and following these specific alternative access routes valid during the festivities:
-
Coming from the North (Direction North > South): Take Exit No. 5 – Matosinhos (Fishing Port).
-
Coming from the South (Direction South > North): Take Exit No. 1 – A4, Matosinhos, Av. da República.
As you navigate through the city, keep an eye out for these key landmarks along the designated alternative paths:
-
Basílio Teles Park and the Matosinhos City Hall.
-
The local Police station, the Church, and the Swimming Pools.
-
Local Schools and the Cepsa gas station.
🚇 Smart Mobility: Public Transport & Apps
To avoid the hassle of parking and traffic jams, public transport is often the smartest choice.
-
Metro do Porto: The Blue Line (Line A) is the most direct way to reach us. Get off at the “Senhor de Matosinhos” station, and you are just a short walk from our lobby.
-
Bus (STCP): Multiple bus lines serve the Matosinhos area.
-
Moovit App: We highly recommend downloading the Moovit app. It provides real-time updates on bus and metro schedules, helping you see exactly how to reach your destination with live directions.
📱 Navigation at Your Fingertips
For those driving, real-time data is your best friend. Both Google Maps and Waze are excellent tools for navigating the temporary road closures. Simply input “Sea Porto Hotel” as your destination, and these apps will guide you through the best available streets based on current traffic conditions.
🚕 Ride-Hailing & Taxis
If you prefer a door-to-door service without driving yourself, Uber, Bolt, and traditional Taxis are readily available. These drivers are typically well-aware of the local restrictions and can navigate the best routes to drop you off as close to the hotel as possible.
⚠️ Pro Tip: Mind the Peak Hours
The festivities truly come alive in the late afternoon. The peak hours for the event are from 17:00 (5 PM) to 02:00 (2 AM). During this window—and especially on weekends and holidays—the influx of visitors is much higher.
If you are checking in or have a scheduled arrival, we suggest planning to reach the hotel before 17:00 to enjoy a more direct and quiet commute.
We look forward to welcoming you to Sea Porto Hotel, your peaceful harbor in the heart of the action!
